BRIEF DESCRIPTION A large, robust, non-rhizomatous grass reaching 30-90 cm in height. USES Used for pasture. KILLING T Survives frost. GROWING PERIOD Summer-growing perennial. COMMON NAMES Star grass, Naivasha star grass, African star grass, Estrella, Bermuda mejorado, Hawaiiano, Giant stargrass. FURTHER INF Star grass is native of East Africa and it is common in the Rift Vally, especially on dry lake beds. It can be found at elevations between sea level and 2000 m. Dry matter yields may be 6 t/ha from unfertilized stands up to 32 t/ha from fertilized stands.
