Usually worked under the simple coppice system, with a rotation period of 30-40 years. In India new flowers appear in March-April, leaves appear in May, and fruits ripen from May to August. The tree is usually leafless from February. COMMON NAMES East Indian satinwood, Halda, Bheria, Billu, Hardi, Bhirra, Bhera, Ghiriya, Bherul, Mashwal, Huragalu, Bittula, Hurihuli, Masula, Mootanari, Billu, Halda, Bheria, Hardi, Porasu, Mududad, Varimarai, Vaimari, Purush. FURTHER INF East Indian satinwood is a small or medium sized tree. In India, it is adapted to a relative humidity in January from 40-80% and in July from 60-90%. It can be found at elevations from sea level to 240 m, occasionally seen up to 450 m. It is easily damaged by fire. |
