Notes
BRIEF DESCRIPTION A small tree reaching up to 5-15 m. The bole is short and stout, 50-100 cm in diameter. The foliage is somewhat stiff. Sapwood is wide and creamy coloured, heartwood is reddish-brown, fissile and very dense. USES The wood is used for turnery, fencing, poles and it makes a good fuel. GROWING PERIOD Perennial. COMMON NAMES Black oak. FURTHER INF Scientific synonym: C.lepidophloia. This black oak is native to a wide belt from western New South Wales across the central latitudes of South Australia to Western Australia. The latitudinal range 27-36°S and the tree is manily found at elevations below 350 m.
